One day, in the middle of the summer holidays and in the middle of a manic episode, Todd and Laurie’s dad takes them to stay in the hotel he spent most of his childhood holidays in. Todd and Laurie have the run of the place and they soon start to uncover a few secrets…Multi -award winning Lisa Thompson will talk about her first experiences as a young writer (aged nine!) and the inspirations behind her latest book The Rollercoaster Boy.
Lisa Thompson worked in radio production at the BBC where she made tea for lots of famous people before becoming the writer of six acclaimed novels including The Goldfish Boy which was nominated for the Carnegie Medal, the Branford Boase Award and the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize in 2017. This was followed by The Light Jar which won the Children’s Book Award in 2019 and her novella Owen and the Soldier which was shortlisted for the Blue Peter Book Award 2020.
