The Perfect Parent Project with Stewart Foster

Date: Friday 18 June 2021
Time: 11.30am
Venue: Genesis Cinema, Bethnal Green E1 4UJ
Suitability: Years 5 & 6

Sam has been in and out of foster care his whole life and longs for somewhere to call home. So he decides to take matters into his own hands and starts advertising for the perfect parents. (With an Xbox!) Join multi-award winning author, and former foster carer, Stewart Foster, to hear about the real people and stories that inspired The Perfect Parent Project and his other books, and then he’ll answer your questions until he’s ready to drop!

Stewart Foster believes that meeting the person behind the book, or illustrations, can be the magic that helps reluctant readers to engage, encourages hesitant writers to pick up a pencil, or inspire shy kids to find their voice.

His first children’s book Bubble Boy was published in 2016 and was nominated for every major writing prize including the Carnegie Medal, and winning the Sainsbury’s Children’s Book Award and the Hounslow Book Awards. This was followed by All the Things That Could Go Wrong in 2017 and Check Mates in 2019 which have won multiple school and library awards. Before becoming a full time writer, Stewart worked for insurance companies, but all the while he was writing behind his computer, without the boss noticing. Apparently.
