Description:

How many different kinds of animals can you name? Join ‘stand up’ zoologist and award winning author Nicola Davies as she takes you through the jungle, dives deep into the sea and climbs high into the trees to uncover animals, big, small, wide and tall! Get ready to sing like a whale, do some animal rhyming and find out why every breath you take depends on living things that you can’t even see!

Nicola Davies graduated in zoology from King’s College, Cambridge and studied geese, bats and humpback and sperm whales in the field before joining the BBC Natural History Unit and becoming one of the original presenters of CBBC’s wildlife programme, The Really Wild Show. Since then she has written more than fifty fiction, non-fiction and poetry books for children focusing on the natural world and humans’ relationship with it. She was the first recipient of the School Librarian Association’s award for Outstanding Contribution to Children’s Non-Fiction and numerous nominations for the Kate Greenaway Medal other children’s writing prizes.
