Description:
In Now or Never, multi-award winning author Bali Rai transports you to the battlefields of the Second World War where the dangerous days surrounding the Dunkirk evacuation are recounted by Private Fazal Khan, a young Muslim soldier in the Royal Indian Army Service Corps, who cares for the mules which carry supplies to the front line. Bali reveals how he used his research into the role of Indian soldiers in the world wars and real life experiences to recreate this little-known episode of the Dunkirk evacuation story.
Bali Rai grew up in a multicultural, multi-racial community in inner city Leicester. As a child he dreamed of three things – playing for Liverpool, being Bob Marley and becoming a writer. After studying Politics at university, he moved from one awful job to another while writing his first novel (Un)arranged Marriage which was published in 2001 and won a number of children’s book awards. He has since written over forty novels which have been nominated for every major children’s writing prize.
