We’re turning the fun up to eleven with two days of FREE football, dance, performances, workshops, activities and surprises so you better make sure you can make it!

Lucy Reynolds & Jenna Herman – Parrots Don’t Live in the City!

‘They were flying their kite loop-the-loop in up high, when something emerald flickered by…’ Join Lucy and Jenna as they explore a world of hidden animals, birds and mini-beasts in search of one very special creature! Book reading plus a fun and feathery game.

Debi Evans – The Secret Adventures of Rolo

Rolo is a real Jack Russell who is sent by a dragon to make events happen in the past. Written as if by Rolo himself this series of historical fantasy adventure books presents topics appealing to KS2. Rolo also blogs! #rolodogblog

M.C. Slack – The Ninja who was Afraid of the Dark

For the second year running M.C. Slack will be joining the festival for his story telling event. Come and hear the amazing tale of Babu the ninja, as well as some ninja training and origami workshop!

Sylva Fae – Rainbow Monsters
Nick Jones – Sarah’s Shadow

Paul, Sylva and Nick will all be reading from their debut picture books, before unveiling the Story Generator! What’s inside? Well, you’ll have to wait and see.

Trevor Young & Eleanor Long – Galdo’s Gift

Mad-capped masked mayhem brings this innovative children’s Boovie® (book-movie mashup) to life! Join the journey to Galdovia as the creators bring their animated illustrations and models to life with a riot of colourful masks, acting fun and the chance to create your own superhero!

3.30pm – 4.30pm   For Ages 5-8

RC Ajuonuma – King Billy & the Royal Road

Come and listen to RC Ajuonuma read his new book, King Billy and the Royal Road. It’s a rhyming story offering a fun and accessible way into poetry. Children will be encouraged to write a short poem together.

Hedgehog Heaven with Karen Inglis and the Friends of Barnes Common

Come and hear Barnes author Karen Inglis read from Ferdinand Fox and the Hedgehog and learn lots of fun facts about foxes and hedgehogs followed by hedgehog art/messy play activity with our Friends of Barnes Common. Drop in but numbers limited. Please arrive on time!

Ruby Lovell – Ruby Rides an Elephant

Join author Ruby Lovell for an exciting and colourful workshop exploring the beautiful island of Sri Lanka, featuring traditional music, dancing and an interactive story time from the diverse new picture book Ruby Rides an Elephant.

Jenny Henwood – The Rainbow Riding School

Welcome to the world of The Rainbow Riding School. Join Jenny for lots of fun in an interactive story telling session. Meet the toys from the books and learn Ketchup the Cockerel’s dance! Balloons and bookmarks for children.

Lynne Land – Mojo Make-Believe

Who knows a dog who can play a piano and sing (badly!) Ride a skateboard? Dance? Set a Guinness world record? She may be titchy but she is pretty awesome! Come along and enjoy some fun with BGT Star Mojo the Poodle!

1.30pm – 2.30pm   For Ages 7+

Simon Adepetun – The Bee Hive 

Help ‘creative chef’ Simon to cook up a story using ingredients such as settings, plots and characters. A delicious introduction to his debut book illustrated by his teenage daughter.

Sarah Milne – The Lost Hat

All aboard Kitty’s magic fun bus! Buckle up your imagination and prepare for a bumpy landing on this “pawsitively” sparkling sing-along, move-along adventure. With shiny props, funky music, songs, tangling tongue twisters and heaps of frolics and fun. 

3.30pm – 4.30pm   For Ages 7-13

Emma Hollender – School 3D

Meet ten-year-old triplets: Alice, Ella and Hazel, all starting at different secondary schools. Compete in a classroom quiz (kids v parents!) and enter a competition to design a new school uniform. Good luck in advance!
