Jessie Burton was a student at Lady Margaret School in Parsons Green where her favourite subjects were story-writing, sleeping and ice-cream eating. After studying at Oxford University and the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, she worked for nine years as an actor and a PA before her first novel, The Miniaturist, was published. It won the Waterstone’s Book of the Year in 2014 and has since sold more than a million copies and been translated in to 38 languages. Her second novel, The Muse, was also a bestseller. Jessie’s earliest ambition was to be a pub landlady because she says she fancied telling people to get out of it!
