Jeanne Willis is the award-winning author and illustrator of over 100 books for children of all ages. Her picture books include The Bog Baby and Who’s in the Loo?, for which she won the Red House Book Award in 2007.  Jeanne was born in St Albans in 1959, and it was at infant school that she first discovered a love for storytelling. She remembers sitting in the teacher’s chair, at the age of four, and reading a book called Farmer Small to the class. She went on to write her first book at just five years old and continued to write, illustrate and hand sew books throughout her childhood. Jeanne had a number of jobs before becoming a full-time writer, including selling cowboy boots and working as a reptile vet’s assistant. She loves pets and once had a garter snake called Betty and a toad called Dave, who lived to the age of 26! In fact, Jeanne loves animals so much that she wrote her book Rat Heaven with her inspirational pet rat inside her pocket!

Tony Ross was born in Wandsworth in London and says he never thought about a career in art until his dream of being a cowboy disintegrated when a letter he wrote to John Wayne was never replied to. He trained at the Liverpool School of Art and he worked as a cartoonist, graphic designer, and art director of an advertising agency before his first book – Goldilocks and the Three Bears – was published in 1976. He has illustrated thousands of books including his ever-popular Little Princess series, on air everyday as part of Channel 5’s Milkshake. Tony has been the UK’s bestselling illustrator for the past two years, which includes his own work, and his many collaborations with the best and biggest in children’s publishing including Roald Dahl, Astrid Lindgren, the Horrid Henry series with Francesca Simon, and the works of David Walliams.
