Cressida Cowell is author-illustrator of the multi-million bestselling series and DreamWorks film franchise How To Train Your Dragon. She’s talking about her new series, The Wizards of Once, a fantasy, magical adventure that has already been signed up by DreamWorks and went straight to number one in the charts. Cressida will talk about her inspiration, give top tips on becoming an author or illustrator, and why she loves the films. The ‘world-conquering’ How to Train Your Dragon has sold 8 million copies in 38 languages worldwide. Cressida has been an Ambassador for the National Literacy Trust for a decade. Unmissable!

Cressida Cowell grew up between London and a little stone house, built by her family, on a remote island off the west coast of Scotland. It was here that she first found her passion for writing and illustrating – stories of Viking invaders and the dragons that were said to have lived in the caves in the island’s cliffs were later to form the inspiration for the How to Train Your Dragon books. Cressida studied English at Oxford University and illustration at St Martin’s, before publishing her first picture book in 1998. She has since written several more picture books, including the Emily Brown series, the first book of which won the Nestle Gold Award in 2006. Cressida’s most recent book is The Wizard of Once, published in 2017, the first in a magical new adventure series featuring a young boy Wizard and a young girl Warrior. Cressida lives in London with her husband, three children and a dog called Pigeon
