Join the much-loved Polly Dunbar, creator of bestselling picture book Penguin and more recently the rollicking read-aloud A Lion is  Lion, for a fun filled event of stories, drawing, Lions and Penguins. Let Polly introduce you to her characters and story worlds, and find out what it takes to make a beautiful picture book.

Polly Dunbar is one of the UK’s most popular author/illustrators. She is best known for the Tilly & Friends books (adapted into a successful Cbeebies television series) and the bestselling picture book, Penguin. Her titles have won numerous awards including the BookTrust Early Years Award, the Nestle Silver Children’s Book Prize and the Red House Children’s Book of the Year Award. Polly studied illustration at the University of Brighton before moving to London with a group of friends.

They shared a little room in a vicarage, and it was here that she got the inspiration for Tilly’s yellow house and the colourful characters that live inside it. Polly is also the co-founder of an award- winning theatre company and runs workshops in schools and universities. Polly believes that colour is a great way to cheer yourself up. Any time she feels sad, she puts on her pink dress and paints!
